The Joy List: April 14
Hi everyone,
Our New Yorker of the Week today is Aishwarya. She’s 27 and interested in friendship and love. If you want to reach out, email [email protected]
Want to be featured next? You do. Just fill out this form.
Now, onto the fun stuff:

How would someone who loves you describe you?
My friends would say that I'm caring, compassionate, curious and very very big on communication (so I'm covering all the 4Cs!). I'm the mom of the group, making chai, samosas or baking chocolate chip cookies when my friends are around. Cooking with friends is my love language.
What sorts of things do you want to do with your friends?
Indoors I like playing Uno, Monopoly, Catan or having deep conversations about life, culture and family upbringing with friends. Outdoors I love exploring new restaurants, cozy cafes, free pop-ups, or go to comedy shows with friends.
What's something that people might not guess about you?
I love hiking and stargazing (and know a thing or two about stars, constellations and Astrophotography), and know basic level French (Ça va?)
Are you looking for love? Tell me about the type of person you're looking for!
My pronouns are she/her and I identify as straight. I'm a Biochem student who loves diving into thought-provoking books, especially fiction that unpacks capitalism, survival and relationships (Severance by Ling Ma, anyone?). I geek out over True Crime, investigative media, and random deep-dive lectures—whether on Psychology, Love, Space, or anything in between. When I'm not lost in existential pondering, I enjoy exploring NYC's hidden gems, walking in parks, hitting 4-5 mile hiking trails on weekends, taking vocational classes (learned basic level sewing recently!) and having deep conversations about all things psychology, culture, history and life.
I'm looking for love (preferably long-term relationship but open to friendships too!). I'm looking for someone who provides a safe, consistent presence in my life. Someone who asks deep, thought-provoking questions and enjoys discussing a wide range of topics from science to culture and philosophy. Someone who enjoys exploring the city, trying new restaurants, cafés, and attending events like lectures, comedy shows, broadways or concerts (bonus points: if you like going to Othership for their free flows or guided meditations).
Above all, my ideal person would be someone who is intentional about love and commitment, knowing what he wants and making the effort to build a meaningful relationship.
Anything else The Joy List community can help you with?
Happy to receive any biochem internship opportunities, receive haikus, words of affirmation that gets you going and pictures of dogs and cats always makes my day :))
If you have to be on LinkedIn, you might as well have fun!
Jillian, The Joy List founder, here! Did you know that I’ve recently become a LinkedIn influencer? Embarrassing, yet true.
Right now, I’m teaching people how to find their voice online through being “weird,” AKA funny/authentic/vulnerable. I went viral and was even featured in Forbes!
I just wrapped up my beta course— called Make LinkedIn Weird— and got rave reviews. Now I’m launching my second class and am looking for 2 things:
Students who are interested in joining. This is a great way to spend your L+D budget and actually enjoy yourself!
Companies that are interested in sponsoring a few students. Tons of people who are currently unemployed have messaged me, expressing interest in joining, and I would love to have them!
Feel free to respond to this email if you have any ideas.
