The Joy List: December 16
Hi there, friend!
Our New Yorker of the Week today is Nikhita. She’s 33, currently in Jersey City, and is looking for friendship and love. To say hi, email [email protected] and tell her what interested you in her profile!
If you’re interested in being featured in the future— which I know you are, you lil minx— fill out this form.
Now, onto the good stuff:
How would someone who loves you describe you?
Bubbly, goofy, hilarious, kind-hearted, the life of the party!
What sorts of things do you want to do with your friends?
Board game nights, exploring new restaurants, speakeasies, afternoon tea, trying new interactive group activities (escape rooms, axe throwing, rage rooms, pop-ups, museums, etc.), Bollywood dance classes, OrangeTheory fitness, sauna and plunge pool dates, long phone calls with good friends, visiting new cities / states, cooking classes (pasta making), and running in Central Park or Jersey City waterfront
What's something that people might not guess about you?
I’m a marathoner! Recently ran my first at the end of 2023 - the TCS NYC marathon and looking to do another one in 2025! Hoping to get into the Chicago lottery.
Are you looking for love?
Looking for love again after my husband passed away from cancer at the age of 34…we were together for 8 years, married for almost 5. It’s tough being a young widow, especially when many of my married years were spent as a caretaker, but I’m hopeful that someone is out there who wants to live life together and not take any moment for granted.
I’m looking for someone who is open-hearted, understanding, empathetic, genuine, who wants real connection and wants to have adventures together (loves to travel, is down to eat and cook great food, and has a zest for life).
She/hers pronouns, heterosexual
Anything else that the Joy List community can help you with?
If you have your own grief journey, I’m always open to chat!

Tuesday, December 17: Wine Poetic: Václav Havel
Wine Poetic is where the worlds of wine, spirits, poetry, and history converge. This integrative workshop series, cleverly named as a play on words that reflects the deep connections between these elements, was co-created by Jackie Braje of The Poetry Society of New York and Darby Wagner, founder of GNOSES and a writer + sommelière. The series focuses on site-specific wines (and other spirits/ancestral libations) and poetry, explored through a historical and poetic lens.
In each session, we delve into the life and work of a significant poet—whether from the past or present—while pairing their work with a curated selection of wines and/or spirits from the poet’s country of origin.
$28.52. 7 to 10:30 PM. Anais, 196 Bergen St. Info here.
Wednesday, December 18: People Who Thrive
Join People Who Thrive, a monthly gathering that makes it easy to make new friends and be part of a community of go-getters who are getting interesting projects off the ground. At each People Who Thrive gathering, a speaker talks for 10 minutes about a time in their life or their career when they asked for help. Then, everyone has one minute to address the group and share their elevator pitch, their “ask” (something they need help with), and an “offer” (a way they can be of service to others). When the floor is open for networking, it’s easy to walk right up to someone you can help, someone who can help you, or someone you might want to be friends with.
$20. 6:30 - 9pm. 12-16 Vestry St. Info here.
