The Joy List: December 23
Hi there, friend!
Our New Yorker of the Week today is Sam. She’s 39, lives in the East Village, and is looking for friendship. To say hi, email [email protected] and tell her what interested you in her profile!
If you’re interested in being featured in the future— which I know you are, you lil minx— fill out this form.
Now, onto the good stuff:
How would someone who loves you describe you?
"I don't know how you do it all", always down for adventures, spontaneous, happy to help, intense, direct, curious, "definitely eccentric", dedicated, supportive, "a f*cking ray of sunshine", "one of your most appealing qualities is the determination to build community - you go out of your way to make people feel welcome, pay attention to them."
What sorts of things do you want to do with your friends?
I'm looking for creative collaborators! I love creating and working with people on art for art's sake, but I've been mostly stuck doing tech for the last decade and I'm just warming up to my creative side. I've been getting into video art/visuals for friends that make music as well as screenwriting and I'd love to meet someone who wants to see if we're compatible and maybe make some cool stuff together.
What's something that people might not guess about you?
I'm German (as in, born and raised and went to college there), I don't drink but I still go out a ton.
Gatherings
Double check details before you go, and contact the organizers with questions! The Joy List does not run these events.
Wednesday, December 25: Candlelight CircleSing
Since the dawn of days, humans have gathered round the fire to share songs and stories, and while we may not be able to start a campfire in the middle of Manhattan, we can at least sing with some candles! These sessions are an invitation to gather round and see what the flickering flames inspire in our songs, letting our music steer towards places that it can only go in the dark. Guided by a skilled facilitator who will teach parts and shape the flow, we will explore moments of song, moments of movement, moments of group and individual sharing, and moments of surprise, as every session is improvised and unique!
We will provide candles, but feel free to bring your own (preferably unscented) if you'd like to share your light with the room!
Donation-based. 7 to 9:30 PM. Arts On Site NYC, 12 Saint Marks Place. Info here.
Friday, December 27: Othership Social
