The Joy List: Jan 27

Hi there, friend!

Before we get into our regularly scheduled content, I wanted to share some places to volunteer in NYC. (Shoutout to all of you who suggested your favorites on IG!)

Shit is crazy in America right now, and helping others is always a great way to deal with chaos and garbage fires. Click to learn more about all these orgs!

Now, onto the good stuff:

Your Subconscious Speaks a Different Language than your Thoughts—Let’s Reprogram It

95% of your thoughts are on repeat, driven by the unique language of your subconscious mind. Join this Subliminal Workshop to learn how to speak its language, craft affirmations that cut through overthinking, and record your own subliminal track. Led by a hypnotherapy expert, this workshop will help you break old patterns and align with your 2025 goals. Use code GOODFRIEND for a discount.

Gatherings

Double check details before you go, and contact the organizers with questions! The Joy List does not run these events. This is a slow events week, so the focus is mostly on every possible flavor of New Year’s Eve!

Tuesday, January 28: 57 Circles

Ever wished there was a more natural way to meet interesting people in our community? That's why we created 57 Circles – where genuine connections happen over great food, without the awkward bill-splitting of traditional group dinners.

With the help of our community matching system, we're bringing together small circles of creative minds based on shared interests, creative pursuits, and potential synergies!

$15. 6:30 to 9:30 PM. Chelsea Market. Info here.

Tuesday, January 28: Ecstatic Dance

Our first dance of 2025 at Judson Memorial!

With our beloved producers and founders of Dance Beyond, who are on their way to Florianopolis for "Dance Beyond: Brazil Retreat".

What a lovely treat it will be to get down and groove with the people who has held this community in their care and stewardship for over a decade!

Wednesday, January 29: People Who Thrive

Join the January gathering of People Who Thrive, a new community for goal-driven New Yorkers to plug into community and support as they go after their goals. At each People Who Thrive gathering, a speaker talks for 10 minutes about a time in their life or their career when they asked for help, and receiving that help had a transformative impact. Then, everyone has one minute to address the group and share their elevator pitch, their “ask” (something they need help with), and an “offer” (a way they can be of service to others). When the floor is open for networking, it’s easy to walk right up to someone you can help, someone who can help you, someone whose vision is inspiring, or someone you might want to be friends with.

$20 + 6:30pm + 12-16 Vestry Street. Info here.

Wednesday, January 29: Passion, Purpose, and Capitalism: A Salon
