The Joy List: July 21

Hi there, my gorgeous readers!

Our New Yorker of the Week today is VERY special. Her name is Frankie.

She’s 5 years young, a pup in Manhattan, and is looking for her furever home. Email [email protected] if you’re interested in her! (Come on, how could you not be?)

Know someone (including yourself!) who should be featured? Forward them this form.

And last but not least:

Has The Joy List made a difference in your life in the past 9 years? Feel free to donate here to say thank you and support my dirty chai addiction. Small price for a weekly dose of community and wonder, amirite?

Now, onto the fun things:

How would someone who loves you describe you?

Frankie (aka Ms. Francine) is a happy, affectionate, clever, easygoing, well-adjusted, polite, gorgeous gremlin girlie with the best teefers in town. She's a true New Yorker, unfazed by city life, and also enjoys a jaunt in the country. She's not a barker, and communicates through boops and ever-changing ear positions (one up, one down; both up; both down, etc).

She knows her basic commands and is quick to pick up new ones, this girl loves a puzzle. House trained, eager to please, and doesn't have separation anxiety. She walks well on a leash and can be trusted off-leash with supervision. She loves people but doesn't always vibe with other dogs.

What sorts of things do you want to do with your friends?

I am doing what Gretchen Weiners never could: making fetch happen! I will play fetch with you all day, every day, forever, with whatever toy is at hand. I am a big cuddler and will curl up with you on the couch or in bed. I love belly scritches, head scritches, and making meaningful eye contact. I enjoy walking around the neighborhood and love when I can run on/roll around in some grass. I swam in a pond last week and was told it was very adorable.

What's something that people might not guess about you?

I was adopted as a puppy but my original humans surrendered me back to the rescue because "their toddler and I didn't get along." I get nervous around rambunctious little ones, but fine around calmer and older kids.

Are you looking for love?

I am looking for my forever home! I have so much love to give and my foster mommies don't understand why I haven't been scooped up yet. I come pre-trained, so you won't need to invest in a dog whisperer or stain remover. I would be equally happy with a grown-ups only home or a family with older kids, but I'd like to be your only dog.

Must be able to throw toys for fetch. Must have space for me in your bed because I'm a queen who does not sleep on the floor. I promise to let you sleep in. Are you my new best friend?? Is that a ball?!?!?

Anything else?

But to be frank, Madrona says: we can do much more.

Our guided meditations will set you up to meditate on your own for the rest of your life.

Sound empowering?  Download and try the Madrona app for 14 days free.
