The Joy List: June 23

Hi there, my gorgeous readers!

Our New Yorker of the Week today is Chris. He’s 41, lives on Staten Island, and is looking for friendship and love. Interested? Email him at [email protected].

Or maybe you know someone (including yourself!) who should be featured? Forward them this form. Foster fur babies are definitely welcome to be featured, as well.

And now, a little promo moment:

The Joy List has space for advertisers in the next few weeks. Successful advertisers include therapists, retreat leaders, and practitioners of all sorts who are looking for more clients. Spaces start at only $50-$100, and you get discounts for purchasing multiple slots. What a deal!!

  • Fill out this form to secure your feature.

  • Or if you’re interested in a larger campaign that includes my LinkedIn presence, hit ‘reply’ to this email! (Check out my recent post for a Hubspot campaign as an example.)

Now, onto the fun things:

How would someone who loves you describe you?

For my birthday last year I hosted a fire circle with my friends and someone suggested everyone say one word to describe me. Here is what they said: “intentional, sweet-as-pie, intriguing, light, cool, scholarly, intellectual, warm, singing, improved, rockstar, intense, mysterious, loveable, generously-questioning, smiley, kind, gentle, thoughtful, brilliant.”

The basic things to know about me are that I’m 41, cis-male (he/him), from Long Island, spent most of my 30s traveling & living in other places, am in the process of building a spiritual coaching and shamanic healing business, and am generally a kind and open-minded person! I’m an INFJ & Libra/Pisces/Scorpio

What sorts of things do you want to do with your friends?

Talking about deep spiritual questions, sitting around a fire, being in nature together (a walk, a swim, a hike, wild harvesting, etc), playing games, rituals & ceremonies & circles, soul check-ins, meditating together, seeing a movie, making art, having a tea and chit-chatting about life, cooking and eating, going to a lecture or workshop, helping others out, etc.

What I don’t like to do: drink alcohol, smoke weed, be in loud & crowded places, & go out to fancy dinners or parties or clubs

What's something that people might not guess about you?

-I lived in Central America for 2 years, Peru for a year, trained with an Amazonian shaman, and speak Spanish really well!

-I was an activist and community organizer for many years

-I live in an intentional community in Staten Island

Are you looking for love?

I am! I also love getting to know people and hearing their stories and their dreams. I’m casually dating until I find a lasting love (or until it finds me!). I mostly date women but I’m open-minded and willing to explore other genders if the vibe is right. The kind of person I'm looking for is someone kind, curious, clear about what they want and who they are, into spiritual things, has good boundaries, politically aware and looking for a partnership where we can grow together and support one another.

Anything else that the Joy List community can help you with?

Yes! I’m also looking for friends, collaborators and clients. If you’re interested in the healing arts (astrology, shamanism, tarot, hypnotherapy, energy work, etc), nature, community and in building a better world, please reach out!

Also -- if you’re looking for a spiritual coach/guide, and/or someone to help you sort through feelings, get clear on purpose, navigate addictions, explore your intuition, imagination and the spirit world, reach out and we can book a session!

These magical evenings of community and song are part house show, part art party, part jam session, part improvised extravaganza, and part evolving co-creation that takes on a life of its own.

Commit today to meeting new people and learning new things.

That's it for this edition. Try something new this week, friends!
