The Joy List: June 30

Hi there, my gorgeous readers!

We don’t have a New Yorker of the Week today. Do you know someone (including yourself!) who should be featured? Forward them this form. Foster fur babies are definitely welcome to be featured, as well.

Now, onto the GIF and the fun things:

Gatherings

Double check details before you go, and contact the organizers with questions! The Joy List does not run these events.

Tuesday, July 1: Masquerade Backgammon Night

Let’s roll the dice and have a great time! All skill levels welcome. See you there!

$10. 6:30 to 11 PM. Masquerade Williamsburg. Info here.

Tuesday, July 1: Community Craft Night

Sponsored by Cooks Crafts. Have a knitting project your cat won’t let you work on? An art project that you don’t want your roommate’s unsolicited advice on? A surprise you’re making your partner that you don’t want them to see? Bring it to Community Craft Night.

We will just be setting chairs and tables up for you to do your thing at, while we put Golden Girls on the projector (or some equally comforting sitcom). Bring your own materials and some to share if you have any. All skill levels welcome, just don’t bring any supplies your mom would yell at you for using inside the house. Work on your craft projects among friends, cozy drinks and good vibes.

$5-15 donation. 7 to 10 PM. 552 Grandview Avenue; Ridgewood, Queens. Info here.

Wednesday, July 2: Vocal Flow: Sing From the Heart

Through group play, guided structures, and spontaneous creation, this session invites singers to:

-Tune into the emotional core of melody

-Discover new shapes of expression through the voice

-Co-create in a space of trust, listening, and flow

Donation-based. 7 to 9:30 PM. Arts On Site. Info here.

Thursday, July 3: Collaborative Conspiracy Building Night

We’ll go over the basics of logical fallacies and then develop our own kitschy conspiracy theory by working together. Anarchy! Logic! Conspiracy! Join us! All materials provided, but feel free to bring a notebook and a pen.

$15. 7:30 PM. 349 Suydam Street, no. 3L. Info here.

Friday, July 4: 4th of July Beach Trip

Looking for a cool, different plan? Trinity is organizing a group to go to Rockaway Beach for a day on the sand followed by a 7-10p group dinner on the boardwalk + fireworks. INCREDIBLE. You dive in by joining a whatsapp she made. COOL!

Friday, July 4: Pitch And Run

Pitch and Run was founded to make it easy for founders to connect with Angels and VCs without the pressure of a pitch meeting and to allow founders and startup employees to connect. Many companies have raised their round, found customers, and met their co-founders, and even found jobs from connections made at Pitch and Run.

We meet at 8:55am Intros 9-9:10am Paces from 9min/mile to party pace 11min/mile+
