The Joy List: March 17
Hi everyone,
Our New Yorker of the Week today is the most loyal subscriber we’ve ever had. She’s opened every email in The Joy List’s entire 8 years of existence. She’s also my best friend…. and happens to be me.
My name is Jillian, I’m 31 and live in Brooklyn, and I’m looking for the love of my life!
Want to court me? Email [email protected] and share why you’d like to take me out.
Also, if The Joy List has ever helped you, please consider forwarding this to the most eligible bachelors you know. The newsletter has way more female than male subscribers, so you’d be doing me a solid!
Lastly, if you’d like to be featured next— which you do, let’s be real— then fill out this form.
PS. Huge shoutout to everyone who has ever been the New Yorker of the Week before. This shit is SCARY and you are all brave heroes. (Thank you to my new friend and former New Yorker of the Week, Matt, for encouraging me to do this. You all should go look at his profile, then marry him and have his babies.)
Now, onto the fun stuff:
This is me!
How would someone who loves you describe you?
“I’ve known Jillian since pre-K, so from my 27+ years of knowing her, I can confidently say she is a rare gem. Jillian sees beauty all around her: in a stranger’s outfit, a fluffy dog, the way a friend laughs. She also has a deep capacity for experiencing and holding space for emotion: she consistently has shown up fully for me, whatever I’m feeling. Another one of my favorite things about Jillian is she is endlessly curious and always down to try new things. Sense of adventure required! You also better be intellectually sharp, because my girl is well-read, witty, and always learning. Jillian is also a stellar communicator. She knows what she needs, and will check in with you about your needs. It’s a really beautiful and freeing thing to have a sense of clarity and trust in my friendship with Jillian. All in all, Jillian is an incredible human and her future partner is so so lucky.” - Angie
“There are two types of people in this world: those who are doing “the work” and those who are not. Jillian is definitely doing the work and is committed to personal growth in every area of her life. She is a perfect blend of strength and vulnerability. She is emotionally fluent, creative, super smart, and a stunning beauty both inside and out. She is fun, funny, playful and sincere. She is a generous giver and a gracious receiver. She has earned and deserves a beautiful partnership with a tall, mature human who can match her and meet her in both a deep soulful arena as well as the mundane playing field of ordinary day to day living. The planet is a better place because of authentic people like Jillian.” - A former mentor
“Jillian embodies the change she wishes to see in the world—constantly experimenting, trying new things, and fearlessly putting herself out there. She’s reliable and consistent (she shows up). Her kindness and fun-loving nature radiate positivity and joy that brightens everyone around her. With a playful spirit, she communicates openly about her wants and needs while thoughtfully considering how to bring her best self to every relationship and experience. Above all, she’s action-oriented—someone who transforms ideas into reality rather than just talking about them.” - Blake
What's something that people might not guess about you?
I did improv and sketch comedy for 6 years. I was VERY into it. Like, I was on a team that performed in basement bars.
Also I’m six feet tall, which seems to surprise people.
Are you looking for love? Tell me about the type of person you're looking for!
Yes and I’m trying to lure him in with this newsletter!
I’m looking for a playful, emotionally intelligent, organized man who loves to learn. He doesn’t want kids, and he’s cool with the fact that I don’t drink. (It’s okay if he does.) He would look at the boudoir reel that I’m linked in below and say ‘awooga’— respectfully. He’s also interested in a monogamous/ish relationship.
People who know him would describe him as curious, open-minded, and a total hunk.
Ready to feel hot after your winter thaw?
It’s that time. The snow is melting, the sun is out past 5PM, and you’re feeling alive again. Why not celebrate that vitality with… wait for it… a boudoir shoot?
Jillian, The Joy List founder, here. I did a shoot with Nomi and LOVED it. I will hold those photos dear and pull them out when I’m 80 to remember how hot I was. You can see some behind the scenes on her IG if you’re curious.
Use this link to book, with code JILLIAN for $50 off. And feel free to DM her on Instagram if you have any questions!

Underbelly is a non-verbal, somatic meditation & movement practice immersed in music for a slower body. We prioritize and center the nervous system, emotional metabolization, nourishment, rest, listening, communion, and attuned relationship over modernity’s speed, urgency, transaction, addiction to consumption, and incessant stimulation.
It is a practice that doesn't tell or precisely instruct, but gives people permission to settle into their natural rhythms and innate pacing through deeper listening vs. pushing/controlling.There is ample time and space to exist in truer presence with one another, giving rise to our somatic and subtle body intelligence.
