The Joy List: March 31
Hi everyone,
Our New Yorker of the Week today is Alex. He’s 23, lives in Brooklyn, and is looking for friendship and love.
Interested? Email [email protected].
Lastly, if you’d like to be featured next— which you do, you tender-hearted cutie— then fill out this form.
Now, onto the fun stuff:

How would someone who loves you describe you?
Rough on the outside and a softy on the inside. Deeply caring and intuitive and a really good listener, the dad of the group lol
What do you like to do with your friends?
Go on Walks, Have meaningful conversations, cafe hop, and watch sports/movies/tv
What's something that people might not guess about you?
I love romantic comedies, like seriously I’m like obsessed.
Are you looking for love? Tell me about the type of person you're looking for!
I am a Psychology lover with a soft spot for deep conversations and long walks by the beach or through quiet parks. I’m someone who finds peace in nature and energy in good company. Whether it’s exploring hidden corners of the city, hopping between cozy cafés, or just getting lost in thought, I’m happiest when there’s curiosity and connection in the mix.
I’m caring by nature and a genuine listener—someone who values emotional depth, empathy, and the little things that often go unnoticed. I’m always up for a chat that goes beyond the surface, whether it’s about what makes people tick or just a random thought that sparks something interesting.
I’m looking for someone kind, thoughtful, and curious about the world—someone who isn’t afraid to be a little silly, laugh a lot, and dive into conversations that actually matter. If you’re the type who appreciates a clever joke, a meaningful connection, and a good oat latte on a lazy Sunday, we’ll probably get along just fine.
Let’s skip the small talk—tell me what inspires you, what book changed your life, or where your happy place is.
Looking for something real, warm, and lasting. If you are too, say hi.
A mid-week reset for more energy to BLAST you into SPRING!
Need more energy? Feeling isolated? For the next month, every Wednesday for 45 minutes we will move, breathe, and share together in the power of community.
I’ve taught these methods for years blending Qi Gong, Kundalini + Wim Hof breathwork practices combined with intention + will to drive transformation.
Note from Jillian: I know Nathan, and he's truly dedicated to living all of these practices. He's the kind of person where, when he's waiting for a friend in the city, he'll just start stretching on the sidewalk. This series will definitely be fun, and it's totally free!
Feeling lonely in the big city? You're not alone.
NYC can be exciting—and isolating. It’s easy to get stuck, overwhelmed, or lonely.Madrona’s Loneliness course uses Internal Family Systems (IFS), a powerful method for self-connection, to help you connect with the part of you that feels alone—without letting it define you. Loneliness is just one part of you—not all of you.A few minutes a day can shift everything. Download the Madrona app and start the Loneliness course.

Wednesday, April 2: Underbelly: The Art of Slowing Down
Underbelly is a a non-verbal, somatic movement & meditation practice immersed in music for a slower body. We prioritize and center nervous system (co)regulation, emotional metabolization, nourishment, boredom, living in the questions, complexity, rest, subtlety, listening, communion, and attuned relationship over modernity’s urgency, linearity, transaction, instant gratification, polarization, addiction to consumption, and incessant stimulation.
It is a practice that doesn't tell or precisely instruct, but gives people permission to step out of ingrained sociocultural programming so they can actually be where they are, take their time, go their pace, and follow their organic unfoldment through deeper listening/yielding vs. pushing/controlling.Here, we exist in truer presence and intimacy with one another giving rise to our somatic and vital intelligence without needing to look or be "right."There will be live cello with Dan Gorelick!
$25. 7-9:30pm. 68 Jay St. #605A. Info here.
