The Joy List: May 12

Hi everyone,

Our New Yorker of the Week today is Daniel. He’s 29, lives in Bushwick, and is looking for friends and love. Want to hit him up? Email [email protected] and say why you’re intrigued.

And as always, if you have a friend who should be featured, forward them this form.

How would someone who loves you describe you?

someone who loves me would probably say i’m deeply loyal, values-driven, and quietly intentional. i care a lot but don’t need to make a big show of it. one person told me once that they liked me right away but kept being surprised by how much more they liked me the more they got to know me. another said i have a strong moral compass and don’t compromise on it, even when it’s inconvenient. also, multiple reliable sources have confirmed that i’m extremely funny. i show up for people, push them to be real, and keep things light even when they get heavy.

What sorts of things do you want to do with your friends?

i’m down for pickup soccer or shooting around, digging into some gamecube classics, or heading to a music event where the beat loops for 4 hours and no one questions it. i love exploring new spots, especially if there’s good food involved — will absolutely travel for a meal and pretend it’s for cultural enrichment. i’m into deep convos, chaotic laughter, and making dumb plans that turn out to be worth it. whether it’s a spontaneous night out or a trip that took six spreadsheets to plan, i just want to be around good people who don’t mind vibing hard over nothing.

What's something that people might not guess about you?

people might not guess that beneath the intimidating shoulder width, i’m actually pretty emotional. i’m sentimental in a quiet way — i hold onto small moments, remember things people say offhand, and feel a lot, even if i don’t always show it. it surprises people sometimes, but it’s just how i’m built.

Are you looking for love?

pronouns: he/him

orientation: straight

yes! i really value people who feel things deeply and aren’t afraid to care about their people, their work, the world, whatever lights them up. i’m drawn to someone who can go from absolute goofball to deep thinker in under a minute, because that’s how i move through the world too. someone emotionally generous, curious, playful, and grounded. if you love music, good food, and don’t mind getting a little existential between jokes, we’ll probably get along.
