The Joy List: May 19

Hi everyone,

Our New Yorker of the Week today is Ema. She’s 26, lives in Gowanus, and is looking for friends and love. Want to hit him up? Email [email protected] and say why you’re intrigued.

And as always, if you have a friend who should be featured, forward them this form.

How would someone who loves you describe you?

I asked my friends how they would describe me and here’s what they said: “A lil weird, a lil goofball” “A gem” “Beautiful southern goth witch energy” "highly creative and social flower"

To add more texture, I would add that- I am 26 years old and 5’8. I am sober and have been for several years. I moved to New York 4 yrs ago after completing the artists way and most every day is a wonderful surprise! I primarily work in documentary filmmaking but do other work on the side.

What sorts of things do you want to do with your friends?

With my friends- I love to picnic, do crafts, go to parks, play pool, beach bathe, try new restaurants, see live music, go to bath houses, talk in weird voices, go to the movies, argue about alternative movie theory endings we found on Reddit and talk shop. What I don’t like to do with my friends: go on jogs and sing show toons.

What's something that people might not guess about you?

  • into anti fascist puppetry

  • Adopted 2 cats that look the same bc I thought it would be funny

  • desires to have the patience for paper mache

  • Is from the south and can cook but prefers not to (here’s where you come in) -Has a job that is emotionally and physically draining (don’t we all) but doesn’t keep regular work hours!

  • avid journaler

  • kind of good at pool

  • big fan of The Rehearsal

  • Cannot ride a bike but willing to learn

  • made a doc about bluegrass music

Are you looking for love?

I am looking for love! I’ve taken around a year off of dating and I feel ready to dip my toe back in. I would love to stay off the apps. My Ideal age range: 28-37. I love a driven, passionate person who also likes to laugh! If you are any sort of creative- that’s a huge plus. Also you can’t be severely allergic to cats (I’m sorry- I know it’s not your fault.) The sobriety thing- I don’t care if you’re not sober but my social life does not revolve around bars, breweries, etc. other than that, I find all people very interesting so don’t be shy. I also love a date oriented person- let’s go do something!
she/her bisexual

Need a spa day?

Use this link to get 30% off your first visit to Bathhouse (the Flatiron or Williamsburg location) and use the code JILLIANRICHARDSON to get 11% off any purchase at Othership! I especially recommend the 2-week intro pass.

Pro tips for both: check them out during the weekday if you want a more quiet, chill vibe. And go in the evenings— especially on the weekend— for a more social energy.

That's it for this edition. Try something new this week, friends!
