Looking for a delicious meal delivery service?

Oh hey! It’s Jillian, The Joy List lady. I’m here to share that I have discovered a DELECTABLE meal delivery service, called CookUnity. I’ve tried others before: Factor, Daily Harvest, and Blue Apron to name a few. But they all made my tastebuds sad.

CookUnity is the one that I’ve actually stuck with for MONTHS. You get:

  • Chef-cooked meals that you can heat up in minutes

  • Options for dietary preferences, like low-calorie and high protein

  • New meals every week, so you don’t get bored

Gatherings

Double check details before you go, and contact the organizers with questions! The Joy List does not run these events.

Tuesday, May 26: Contact Improvisation Basics Class

Contact Improv is a fun non-gendered partner dance form. The technique focuses on giving and supporting weight, and coordinating with gravity and momentum, to create spontaneous relational dances that fly and fall through space. It is both a come-as-you-are practice (meaning anyone can join) and a skill-based practice (why people keep coming back and getting stronger). Come to improve your body awareness, learn to listen through the skin, and make new friends!

$20, 6:30-8:30pm, 100 Grand St, 2nd Floor, 10013. Info here.

Tuesday, May 26: Reading Rhythms Greenpoint

Reading Rhythms is a series of welcoming reading parties designed to make it easy for people to gather and read socially. We invite you to bring any book you want and facilitate silent reading periods, as well as 1-on-1 breakouts, and group discussions to pull on the threads of the books that everyone is engaging with.

In a world that can often feel devoid of interest and meaningful connection, we bring readers together to reconnect with our love of learning, to experience the wonder of beautiful venues and curated music, and to gather amongst all of the people who want to be in that very same room.

$20-$30. 7 to 9 PM. Red Rover. Info here.

Thursday, May 28: teagather | sparkling tea night

teagather is a biweekly late-night tea house for people who don’t want the night to end — but also don’t want a bar. From 6–11 PM, the space stays open. Tea keeps flowing. Come alone or with a friend. Read, talk, think, play a quiet game, or simply sit.

For this edition, we’ll also be hosting a Sparkling Tea Night, featuring fully homemade sparkling teas crafted in-house — playful, layered, and designed to bring tea into a more celebratory late-night atmosphere.

$35. 6 to 11 PM. 112 W 17th St. Info here.

Thursday, May 28: No Pants Dance Party

Ready to step out of your pants and onto the dance floor? This silly, sexy, body-positive evening celebrates freedom, expression, and the simple pleasure of moving without the limits of all that fabric. Expect body tarot, a 10-handed massage corner, somatic warm-ups and affirmation exercises by yours truly, plus movement and connection-based icebreakers starting at 6:30pm and DJ Elzworth spinning all night.

$40, 7pm, 120 Walker St floor 6, New York, NY. Info here.

Thursday, May 28: Plus-One Party™: NYC [admits 2]

Everyone says they want to meet someone "through friends," and we help make it happen. Grab a pal and join us for a dating event with a twist: everyone brings a great single friend for someone else to meet! Each ticket includes admission for 2 people (1 woman interested in men + 1 man interested in women).

$45 (Admits 2), 7-10 PM, 120 Water St. Info here.

Saturday, May 30: Rosanna (by Toto) Pop-Up Choir by the Water

In this two-hour, open-to-all singing experience, we'll learn the 1982 Yacht Rock staple "Rosanna" (by Toto) in 4-part harmony — entirely by ear — and then perform it together outdoors in the lovely Gowanus Waterfront Park. No singing or choir experience required. Many of the friendships that have grown out of Yacht Rock Choir started with people showing up alone and singing next to someone new. So whether you come with friends or on your own, this is a warm, low-pressure way to spend an evening making music and meeting good people.

$10 suggested donation. 5-7 PM, Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club Boathouse, 165 2nd St, Brooklyn, NY 11231. Info here.

Sunday, May 31: Guided All Around Heart Opener at Othership

An immersive journey into the realm of heartfelt connection. We’ll explore and embody feelings of love, gratitude and compassion, some of the most profound human emotions, to create more meaningful connections and create a richer experience of life.

Expect a sauna to sweat, ice bath to drop-in, towel waving, aromatherapy, stretching, breathwork, vocal toning, periods of complete darkness, sharing and self inquiry.

Use this link to get 2 classes for $64 if you’ve never been, or code JILLIANRICHARDSON for an 11% discount. 7:15 PM. Othership Flatiron. Info here.

EMDR and eating disorder therapy for the astro girlies & folx

I am a trauma and eating disorder therapist, working with folks on building a sense of safety, trust, and belonging in their body. I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, a type of trauma therapy that supports trauma reprocessing through eye movements. I am in-network with Aetna, BCBS, & UHC and have a sliding scale. I also incorporate astrology in my sessions for those who resonate with it.

That's it for this edition. Sending hugs.

Stay cool,
