The Joy List: September 8

Hi there, my lovely readers!

Remember our New Yorkers of the Week last week, the cutie kitties?

I checked in on them at the shelter. Unfortunately, one was too sick and didn’t make it.

HOWEVER! The other, the lil orange guy, was a fighter and made it through.

If you’re interested in adopting or fostering him, you can call the ACC Queens at 718-241-8916 and give animal ID number 235753.

The entire experience showed me how many people are dedicated to helping animals in NYC. I chatted with tons of shelters, foster parents, and fundraising organizations to help get those lil dudes care. It really busted my heart open. There’s so much love out there!

If you’re in a fundraising mood, here are some orgs where you can donate funds (or volunteer!):

  • Sean Casey: you can also donate supplies and go walk their dogs!

  • ACC: FYI if you Google them, you might see some outdated info that they unnecessarily put down a lot of animals. I talked to multiple experts about this, and they said it’s not true!

  • Flatbush Cats: dedicated to decreasing the outdoor cat population in Brooklyn with fostering and neutering/spaying

And if you are fostering a pet that wants their forever home, feel free to submit them as the New Yorker of the Week!

Tired of psychiatrists who just give you five minutes and pull out a prescription pad?

Enter: Francesca Rome-Marie. She's a Johns Hopkins trained psychiatric nurse practitioner who runs a holistic therapy and somatic practice. Unlike most therapists though, she can also do lab work, recommend supplements, and prescribe medications. Francesca works with people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities. Many of her patients are part of LGBTQIA+ communities (with many trans and non-binary individuals), and are also creatives of some type.

She specializes in depression, ADHD, anxiety, and trauma. Francesca works with only a small group of patients so she always has time and attention to devote to each individual. She provides creative, modern, and non-judgmental care. Learn more here and sign up for a free discovery call.
